During World War II, thousands of people who had been deported were forced to perform labor in Freiburg’s factories, public institutions, and private households. Caroline Klemm, a research associate at the Freiburg Documentation Center on National Socialism, provides an overview of the conditions under which forced laborers worked and shares the individual stories of some of them.
