Exhibition Opening with photography by Mark Tuschman | As part of the event series "On the Ropes: Midterms in America"

The deeper California-based photographer Mark Tuschman delved into his work, the clearer it became to him just how much the U.S. relies on immigrants—in agriculture as well as in technology, research, and healthcare. “United we stand, divided we fall.” For three years, Tuschman traveled across the country, portraying people from all over the world: harvest workers on California farms, doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers, executives—and the courage to start over. Every image comes with a story; every story with a name, a face, and a background. The result is neither a monument nor a statistic, but a look at America as a land of immigration—one that eschews pathos and is all the more compelling for it.

The exhibition runs through January 31, 2027.
