Join the team!

Are you at least 18 years old, have excellent English skills, and are interested in the English language? Then support us and our team for 6 to 12 months as a BUFDI in the Language Course Department!

What awaits you:

  • Tasks: Learn how to organize language courses and summer camps for children, teens, and adults, and gain experience in event management for workshops and theater performances.
  • Variety: Gain extensive insight into our cultural work with our international community of teachers, course participants, and visitors, as well as into our administrative processes, public relations, and youth outreach.
  • Seminars: In the Federal Volunteer Service seminars in Karlsruhe, you will meet other volunteers from various fields of activity. Together, you will participate in seminars and courses on different topics. At the same time, there will be plenty of free time to exchange ideas and make new contacts.
  • Inclusive engagement: Engage in an international work environment, interacting with teachers, visitors, and colleagues from the U.S. and many other countries and cultural backgrounds.
  • Collaboration: Become part of our open and welcoming team!

What you bring:

We are looking for friendly, interested, and reliable individuals. Furthermore, the following qualities make you an ideal candidate:

  • Excellent English skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and dedicated team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; experience with Canva, Photoshop, and/or InDesign is a plus
  • Creative problem solver
  • Interested in the English language, culture, politics, society, and intercultural exchange.

What else you should know:

  • Working hours are 35 hours per week, with a 5-day week. Hours are flexible depending on events, including evenings or Saturdays. You will have 22 vacation days per year.
  • Participation in the BFD seminars is mandatory and will not be deducted from your vacation.
  • The BUFDI position is compensated with a monthly allowance of €360, but we cannot provide accommodation.
