Love Books? Join the English Book Club at the Carl-Schurz-Haus library.

This is a self-organized group of book lovers, from places near and far, from students to retired. We invite you to join us, usually on the last Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at the library of the Carl-Schurz-Haus, to discuss (mostly) contemporary fictional literature in English.

We welcome participants of all ages and levels of English. All you need to do is read the book, come to the meeting, share your thoughts about it, and be open for other opinions. Occasionally we will vote on new books, and we welcome your suggestions (contact: klausrei[at]t-online.de). We look forward to meeting you and having some great discussions!

This month, we read:
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, this is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival.
