Be a part of the Carl-Schurz-Haus

We would be delighted for you to become part of our transatlantic community! There are various ways to get involved in the intercultural work of our institute: Become a member or support the transatlantic work of the Carl-Schurz-Haus with a donation or sponsorship. Together, we can promote cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and vibrant transatlantic relations.

Membership

As a member of the Carl- Schurz-Haus, you will enjoy numerous benefits:

• Discounts on our entire range of language courses
• Reduced admission prices for our cultural events
• Event program free of charge—either by post or to your inbox
• Free access to our well-stocked in-house library
• Exclusive invitations to special events

Anyone can become a member of Carl-Schurz-Haus. Choose the membership option that suits you best from the following:

• Single (annual fee €40)
• Couples and Families (annual fee €45)
• Schoolchildren aged 12 and above and students (annual fee €25)
• Corporate membership with freely selectable contributions starting at €250
• Major corporate membership from €5,000 (see below for details)

Once your membership fee has been received, you will receive your membership card. Termination of membership requires written notice, which must be received by the Carl-Schurz-Haus at least four weeks before the end of the membership period. The end of the membership period is indicated on your membership card.

Major Corporate Membership

As a major corporate member with a freely selectable annual contribution starting at €5,000, you will of course receive all the benefits of a standard membership. In addition,

• we offer discounted corporate language courses for your team with a focus on business English and organize intercultural training courses on request.
• we will regularly invite you to exclusive evening events with transatlantic public figures.
• you will automatically become a member of our German-American Business Community (GABC), which invites you to exchange ideas on economic topics at regular intervals.
• we offer you expert support and advice for your US-related projects: Benefit from our binational networks and numerous options for training and further education in the German-American economic and cultural sector.
• you are invited to our annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Business Talk: a classic turkey feast, a renowned speaker on German-American economic relations, and ample networking opportunities.

Against the backdrop of a new world order and the accompanying realignment of political relations between Germany and the U.S., the Carl-Schurz-Haus is more important than ever as a platform for transatlantic exchange. This is also demonstrated by two Freiburg high school students who are currently spending an exchange year in Madison, Wisconsin, with the help of our new Carl Schurz Scholarship. Membership as a Gift

When you gift a Carl-Schurz-Haus membership, you gift transatlantic experiences, intercultural dialogs, and cultural exchanges.

Along with a welcome letter, the new member receives a welcome bag with their membership and library cards plus information on upcoming events.

You decide the details
A gifted membership can run for one year or indefinitely. Whether individual, family or a membership for pupils and students—anything is possible. Simply choose the gift that suits you best!

Donations & Sponsorship

Apart from membership, we also welcome one-time or recurring donations from companies and individuals to help support our programming and events. Your contribution will help us bring these offers to life—whether in our cultural program, our library, or our youth and democratic education projects. We will gladly issue you a donation receipt for tax purposes.
