Inside America

An intercultural experience in your classroom

Inside America offers students in the Freiburg administrative district the chance to experience the USA up close. Direct exchange with US students creates authentic encounters that go far beyond traditional language lessons.

The core of the program is learning through personal conversations and shared discovery. Students can not only improve their language skills but also question prejudices, hear personal stories, and develop a deeper understanding of life in the USA.

You are completely free to choose the content—together with your class, you can make the visit creative and thematically appropriate. Possible topics include, for example:

  • Life in the U.S. – personal insights into everyday American life
  • Geography and Nature – States, Cities, and Landscapes
  • Politics and Society – Electoral System, Laws, Immigration
  • Education System – High School, College, Differences from the German System
  • Sports – Football, Baseball, and other sporting highlights

A special highlight: Upon request, our guests bring the American sports feeling directly to the schoolyard – including equipment for a football or baseball game.

In addition, we offer special visits by experts who can cover topics that are key to the high school diploma. But younger classes also benefit from in-depth insights into politics, history, or culture—conveyed by dedicated speakers who are happy to share their knowledge and perspectives.

Target Group: Students of all grades (maximum 30 per visit)
Language: English
Duration: 90 minutes
Location: at your school in the Freiburg administrative district

Student visit: €25 (plus travel expenses, if applicable)
Expert visit: €75 (plus travel expenses, if applicable)

Check Your Facts!

Strengthening media literacy and improving English language skills!

Our interactive workshops are conducted by specially trained trainer teams – always including at least one English native speaker. Using authentic English-language media content, they demonstrate how misinformation arises, how targeted disinformation works, and what influence artificially generated content such as deepfakes, chatbots, or AI-powered posts can have on our opinion formation.

With practical strategies, we strengthen students’ ability to act confidently and safely when dealing with digital violence in everyday school life. They learn to critically question content, check facts, and not only recognize disinformation, but also confidently counter it.

The students actively participate and creatively engage with the topic, for example through their own social media posts, podcasts, or short videos. As a side effect, the students improve their English skills and develop a sense for cultural differences and global connections.

A workshop that imparts knowledge, strengthens attitudes – and is fun!

Target group: Students in grades 6–13 (maximum 30 per workshop)
Language: English
Duration: 180 minutes
Location: at your school in the Freiburg administrative district
Costs: €25 (co-financed through funding)
